Together, let’s Stay Well

Saturday, 21 June 2025

It’s been a busy start to the winter season here at Roslyn Pharmacy. We’ve powered through our flu vaccination drive, juggled multiple medicine supply issues, and seen the arrival of some especially nasty bugs (welcome back, COVID—it’s been a while…). It’s a hectic time, so we thought we’d share a few key things that help make our winter a success at Roslyn Pharmacy.

1. Dispensary services: It's what we do

It starts with our traditional pharmacy services. Our dispensary team is working incredibly hard to deliver safe, accurate, and timely dispensing. We pride ourselves on being the best in town and have spent a lot of time refining our systems to ensure you get a text message every time your scripts are ready for collection.
Our aim is to reduce the number of calls we get asking whether a script is ready—it’s not that we don’t want to hear from you, but we’re fielding hundreds of calls every day! If it’s not urgent, please wait for the text before popping in. That way, our team can stay focused on preparing your medicines quickly and safely.

2. Vaccinations: ready for now, and what’s coming next

We’ve had a fantastic response to our flu vaccinations this year, and now we’re seeing a strong upswing in COVID booster demand. To keep things easy and accessible, we’re offering walk-in vaccinations Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm. No appointment is needed—just come in and we’ll look after it. In most cases, this service is free.
A couple of other vaccination reminders:
  • Shingles: The newer shingles vaccine is highly effective and can prevent a very painful illness. It’s been popular this season.
  • Measles: Current data suggests New Zealand is particularly vulnerable to a measles outbreak. This is especially important for our tamariki, but also for adults born after the mid‑1960s. Those born earlier generally don’t need a booster. This group can be hard to get through the door, so if that’s you—please come in and let us check if you’re due. If you’re unsure, just ask.

3. See Us First Clinics: filling the gap

Our GP colleagues are doing an incredible job, and in most cases, they can see you in a timely manner. But there’s a bit of a misconception that it’s impossible to get an appointment, and many people don’t even try - please do!
That said, we offer a range of See Us First Clinics to help fill the gap when needed. We can provide:
  • Medical certificates
  • Antibiotics for UTIs and strep throat
  • Antivirals for shingles
We also offer many other See Us First Clinics, so check our website for the full list. Pharmacy supply must meet specific criteria, and charges do apply—but our goal is to help reduce pressure on the wider health system. You can find out more at roslynpharmacy.co.nz.

Our mission is simple: to help make Our Community the healthiest community in Aotearoa. Lofty? Maybe. But together with your help, we’ll do our very dangdest to get there.

Stay warm, stay well, and see you soon.
