Adults aged 55 and over can get melatonin from our counter without a consultation. Melatonin sold without a prescription in New Zealand is currently approved only for that age group, so for adults aged 18 to 54 our pharmacists supply it through a consultation. This is off-label use, and your pharmacist will talk this through with you.
Eligibility and cost:
Aged 55 and over: available from the counter, no consultation needed
Aged 18 to 54: $35 consultation covers up to 13 weeks of treatment, supplied 30 tablets at a time at $14.90 per pack
Not suitable if pregnant or breastfeeding, or if your sleep problems are caused by another condition
